Getting ready to take off for our day in Harrachov.

Andrea's parents had to leave this morning to go see Andrea's brother and wife
who only live about 1/2 hour away from Sklenařice. Andrea's sister-in-law is expecting twins very soon.
Still no sign of Pavel : ( |
FIRST STOP: Harrachov Glassworks

| This is the glass they were making today. They cost about $6.70 each in the gift shop and we were estimating that it takes an average of 4 minutes to make each glass. They had 4 stations going at once, so about 60 glasses per hour, $402 per hour. There were 5 people per station and then additional people who handle the glasses after they are made. It was so hot in there and it looked like such hard, tiring, monotonous work, so we're hoping that they are making better than average wage for the Czech Republic. |

| The only glass cutter working while we were there. Petr said that the tour guide said that at one time they had 18 glass cutters employed. Now the demand for cut glass is so low that they can only afford to employ 3 glass cutters |

After lunch we went to the store where they sell some of their
glassware and we passed a pile of glass refuse where the kids
found a couple of "souvenirs". |
